NO MORE JOB APPLICATIONS: Start reaching out to hiring managers directly

For 2024, The job application process has become saturated and archaic. For you to stand out and get MORE and MORE of BETTER job opportunities in front of you, we have to find ways to STAND OUT from the crowd!

At Career Kitchen, our methodology is the application process should NOT be a primary way we get an interview. Try reaching out to hiring managers directly through direct outreach!

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to reach out to hiring managers directly on LinkedIn:

Step 1: Identify the Hiring Managers

Before you begin reaching out, you need to identify the relevant hiring managers. Research the company and the department you’re interested in and find the names and titles of the hiring managers or decision-makers.

Step 2: Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile

Ensure that your LinkedIn profile is up to date and presents you in a professional light. Highlight your skills, experiences, and accomplishments. Use a clear and professional profile picture and write a compelling summary that showcases your expertise and career goals.

Step 3: Personalize Your Connection Request

Craft a personalized connection request message for each hiring manager you plan to reach out to. Avoid generic messages and demonstrate that you’ve done your research by mentioning something specific about their work or the company. Personalization shows your genuine interest and increases the likelihood of a positive response.

Step 4: Start with a Warm Introduction

If you have any mutual connections with the hiring manager, consider asking for an introduction. This can add credibility and increase your chances of getting a response. Reach out to your mutual connection and ask if they’d be willing to introduce you to the hiring manager. Provide them with a brief explanation of why you’re interested in connecting with the hiring manager.

Step 5: Craft a Compelling Message

If you don’t have any mutual connections or if a warm introduction isn’t possible, you can still reach out directly. In your connection request, be concise and clear about your intentions. Explain why you’re interested in the company and how your skills and experience align with their needs. Express your eagerness to learn more about potential opportunities and request a conversation or informational interview.

Step 6: Follow Up Strategically

If you don’t receive an immediate response, don’t be discouraged. Give the hiring manager some time to review your message and respond. If you haven’t heard back after a week or two, consider sending a polite follow-up message. Express your continued interest in the company and politely ask if they had a chance to review your previous message.

Step 7: Engage with Content

While waiting for a response, engage with the hiring manager’s content on LinkedIn. Like, comment, or share their posts or articles to demonstrate your interest and knowledge in their industry or field. This can help keep you on their radar and potentially increase your chances of receiving a response.

Step 8: Maintain Professionalism

Throughout the process, remember to maintain professionalism in your interactions. Be respectful, courteous, and considerate in your messages. Avoid using pushy or desperate language, as it may create a negative impression. Stay focused on building a professional relationship and showing your genuine interest in the company and its work.

Remember that not all hiring managers may respond to your outreach, so it’s essential to continue exploring other avenues for job opportunities as well. Good luck with your outreach efforts!
